There is a week left until the New Year. If you have not yet decided where to meet the chimes, then maybe you will like one of these unusual scenarios.
On the plane
Have you ever imagined people who are forced to fly somewhere on New Year’s Eve? Don’t forget to ask the locals to tell you legends and stories about shamans and spirits to immerse yourself in a mystical and fairy-tale atmosphere.
Well, and a bonus: the Chuya Highway, winding in the Altai Mountains, was even included by National Geographic magazine in the top ten most beautiful roads in the world. Try to find a person who was left indifferent by the unearthly beauty of these mountains!
In a remote village
Far from large cities, protected places and villages have been preserved, in which some kind of life of its own, not connected with the larger world, flows. Such locations could become the backdrop for mystical films. Perhaps you won’t be able to feel the usual New Year’s bustle, see an abundance of garlands and tinsel, or buy groceries in the store two hours before the chimes strike. But if your soul is looking for something else: new experiences, reboot, mystical unity with nature, then this place is ideal for you. It is important to understand that you won’t be able to go to the village without an invitation; you need to find tourist centers nearby. For example, you can go to the mountains of Bashkiria by booking a place at the Tengri base, which is located in the village of Kaga, 300 km from Ufa. Here you can spend the night in a village house without amenities or in comfortable domed houses with beds and bathrooms. And the entertainment here is quite rustic: riding in a Russian sleigh drawn by horses, spending the night in an apiary and organized walks through the winter forest.
By the pool
Dolce vita is not forgotten. Although the choice of warm countries for Russians is still limited, this is not a reason to cancel the pool party. Moreover, local hotels offer all-inclusive, New Year’s entertainment and spa. Here’s a version of a New Year’s trip to childhood. Who among us has not dreamed of a tree house? Some hotels have decided that this entertainment is not only for young guests. Adults will love it too! And they organized rooms in huts on high stilts with porches around the trunks. You can hang on a tree, for example, at the Alekseevka eco-ranch.
On a yacht
There is still an opportunity to buy tickets to Turkey or Greece, but celebrate the holiday not in a hotel on the shore, but on a sailing yacht between the islands of the Mediterranean Sea. By the way, the captain can moor the ship at ports so that passengers can stroll around the cities. For lunch – fresh catch right on board the ship. On an icy lake
Baikal in winter and Baikal in summer are two completely different tourist experiences. During the cold season, the water is covered with thick ice with cracks that look like paintings by modern artists. You can walk on the smooth surface of the lake, so travelers bring back very picturesque photographs from such a trip. Many companies organize special tours to Lake Baikal and offer to meet the chimes at a gala dinner at a hotel on the shore, and on January 1st go for a walk on the frozen pond.

Catching the northern lights in Murmansk is not so easy. Therefore, organizers of thematic tours advise planning a trip for three to four days during the cold season.
