Plane, train, taiga and other places for an unusual New Year's Eve

Plane, train, taiga and other places for an unusual New Year's Eve

There is a week left until the New Year. If you have not yet decided where to meet the chimes, then maybe you will like one of these unusual scenarios.

On the plane

Have you ever imagined people who are forced to fly somewhere on New Year’s Eve? Take tickets for a flight that departs on December 31 and arrives on January 1, and find out for yourself what is happening on board at 00:00. On OneTwoTrip there are such flights, for example, to the Maldives or Vladivostok.

Once I celebrated New Year’s Eve in the cabin of an airplane. The airline organized a raffle for tickets for other flights, flight attendants in smart uniforms poured champagne, the captain made a celebratory speech, and passengers congratulated each other and made toasts. And by the way, I won the lottery: my economy seat was changed to business class.

On the train

The Trans-Siberian Railway route, the longest railway route in the world, attracts many travelers. And not only from Russia. Modern trains are comfortable: they even have a shower. You can live an amazing week while traveling: you will meet fellow travelers from different cities and villages, each with their own story. What else can you do on the train if you don’t have intimate conversations and look out the window?

Choose your departure day so that you can be on the road on New Year’s Eve. For example, OneTwoTrip has tickets for trains that depart on December 27 or December 31. To travel the whole country, you don’t need to book a lot of hotels and overpay for a room on holidays. Your hotel is always with you, and accommodation is included in the price of the trip.

In the taiga

Taiga is the largest landscape zone in Russia. Therefore, there are many places where you can celebrate the New Year under Siberian cedars, but not all of them are safe. To make the holiday a success, it is better to go to places with developed infrastructure.

The Altai Republic is definitely ready to welcome tourists. Many hotels and guest houses offer New Year’s programs of varying intensity. Someone celebrates the New Year in the warmth and comfort of a Russian bath, someone goes with a group into the winter forest. There are also themed camp sites. For example, “Mayak Altai” offers an overnight stay in a real village house in the village of Elekmonar on the banks of the Katun. Frosty January 1st here will begin with a dashing ride through the mountains in a sleigh and on horseback. But the Manzherok ski complex organizes fun dog sledding. There are still places left at the Manzherok Park Hotel for New Year’s Eve. Don’t forget to ask the locals to tell you legends and stories about shamans and spirits to immerse yourself in a mystical and fairy-tale atmosphere.

Well, and a bonus: the Chuya Highway, winding in the Altai Mountains, was even included by National Geographic magazine in the top ten most beautiful roads in the world. Try to find a person who was left indifferent by the unearthly beauty of these mountains!

In a remote village

Far from large cities, protected places and villages have been preserved, in which some kind of life of its own, not connected with the larger world, flows. Such locations could become the backdrop for mystical films. Perhaps you won’t be able to feel the usual New Year’s bustle, see an abundance of garlands and tinsel, or buy groceries in the store two hours before the chimes strike. But if your soul is looking for something else: new experiences, reboot, mystical unity with nature, then this place is ideal for you. It is important to understand that you won’t be able to go to the village without an invitation; you need to find tourist centers nearby. For example, you can go to the mountains of Bashkiria by booking a place at the Tengri base, which is located in the village of Kaga, 300 km from Ufa. Here you can spend the night in a village house without amenities or in comfortable domed houses with beds and bathrooms. And the entertainment here is quite rustic: riding in a Russian sleigh drawn by horses, spending the night in an apiary and organized walks through the winter forest.

By the pool

Dolce vita is not forgotten. Although the choice of warm countries for Russians is still limited, this is not a reason to cancel the pool party. Moreover, local hotels offer all-inclusive, New Year’s entertainment and spa. In Yalta Mriya Resort & Spa you don’t have to book a room to take part in the New Year’s party; you can buy tickets separately. The program includes: speed swimming and other competitions, funny Santa Claus and Snow Maiden, a graffiti course. Spa hotels near Moscow have also prepared special New Year’s entertainment: for example, Ecotel Bogorodsk & SPA or Russian Seasons Park Hotel Peresvet. True, you will be greeting the chimes at a banquet, and swimming in the pool in January.

In the Finnish sauna

You can’t go to Finland yet. Therefore, we are looking for the Scandinavian New Year spirit in the forests of Karelia. In spa hotels in the region or, for example, in the tourist complex “Point on the Map”, you can steam in a Finnish sauna, go skiing in the coniferous forest, ride a sled down the hills or go on an excursion. And it’s interesting to lie low in the thicket of the forest at the Berloga guest house. And, what’s nice, mosquitoes don’t bother you in the Karelian rocks in winter.

In the treehouse

Here’s a version of a New Year’s trip to childhood. Who among us has not dreamed of a tree house? Some hotels have decided that this entertainment is not only for young guests. Adults will love it too! And they organized rooms in huts on high stilts with porches around the trunks. You can hang on a tree, for example, at the Alekseevka eco-ranch.

On a yacht

There is still an opportunity to buy tickets to Turkey or Greece, but celebrate the holiday not in a hotel on the shore, but on a sailing yacht between the islands of the Mediterranean Sea. By the way, the captain can moor the ship at ports so that passengers can stroll around the cities. For lunch – fresh catch right on board the ship. And at exactly 00:00, raise the flag to the mast in honor of the new year 2022.

On an icy lake

Baikal in winter and Baikal in summer are two completely different tourist experiences. During the cold season, the water is covered with thick ice with cracks that look like paintings by modern artists. You can walk on the smooth surface of the lake, so travelers bring back very picturesque photographs from such a trip. Many companies organize special tours to Lake Baikal and offer to meet the chimes at a gala dinner at a hotel on the shore, and on January 1st go for a walk on the frozen pond.

Under the Northern Lights

Catching the northern lights in Murmansk is not so easy. Therefore, organizers of thematic tours advise planning a trip for three to four days during the cold season. If there are several attempts, then an encounter with this unusual natural phenomenon is almost guaranteed. Why not spend the New Year holidays on this hunt?

On the roof of a skyscraper

New Year’s atmosphere: tinsel, snow and bright garlands. On New Year’s Eve you can look at the lights of Moscow from the highest observation deck in Europe in Moscow City. The organizers are preparing a large entertainment program: a light show, a buffet, ice sculptures. Of course, Santa Claus will also drop by with congratulations.
