A hotel can be considered halal if it meets a certain set of requirements. For example, there are places for ablution and prayers, signs for Mecca, and the hotel restaurant offers a halal menu. One of the main features is a complete ban on the sale of alcohol. During Ramadan, meals are organized after sunset and before dawn. Prayer rooms, as well as common areas – first aid station, sauna, swimming pool, hairdresser, solarium, beach, massage room – are separate for men and women. Some hotels even have their own mosques. Islamic TV channels may be available in the rooms. Guests are offered excursion programs related to the history of Islam. In the rooms of a halal hotel you will not see paintings depicting people and animals and content incompatible with Muslim ethics. And the staff is familiar with the basics of Islam. In Russia today there are two halal-friendly hotel certification systems. One is carried out by Rostourism. Most of our hotels are certified according to this. For example, Gulf Stream Hotel in Kazan or the capital’s DP Park Izmailovo Moscow. The second certification is carried out by the Council of Muftis of Russia. It also has its own “stars” – moons.
