People have invented a lot in search of a source of thrill. Paragliding, bungee jumping (bungee),
skydiving or base jumping (various types of parachuting) have replaced wings for humans. We will tell you in this article which places on the planet are especially good for getting off the ground.
Paragliding
A paraglider is a non-motorized manned aircraft with a fixed wing inflated by air. The flight on it is not very fast, but it is a good opportunity for the paraglider to appreciate the views passing below. Where is it especially pleasant to soar on a paraglider?
Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique
This archipelago, almost untouched by civilization, is located 750 km from the African continent. There are white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Paragliding lovers come here to fly all year round.
Tanyang, South Korea
Two and a half hours drive from Seoul – and in front of you is the Asian capital of paragliding. The popular tourist city with beautiful surrounding landscapes is so loved by extreme sports enthusiasts that there are even two runways for paragliders and hang gliders.
Casteluccio, Umbria, Italy
Castelluccio is a highland village known for its colorful fields and meadows. There are hang gliding and paragliding schools with good flying areas. The best time to visit is early summer, when all nature is in bloom, although Umbria is beautiful all year round.
Dune in Pyla, Gironde, France
The largest sand dune and one of the most famous paragliding spots in Western Europe. The sky above the dune in Pyla, located on the coast, is ideal for maneuverable paragliding due to the constant wind blowing from the sea. But due to these special weather conditions, the dune is more suitable for experienced extreme sports enthusiasts, not beginners.
Bungee jumping
Bungee jumping is a popular attraction, which in our country is often called bungee jumping. Participants are tied to a long rubber rope with which they jump down. A spectacular jump requires sufficient height and, of course, a beautiful view.
Kawarau Bridge, Queenstown, New Zealand
The attraction opened in 2003 and quickly became popular – during this time almost a million people managed to jump. The height of the fall here is small – 43 meters, and after the jump they land directly into the turquoise water of the Kawarau River.
Dam on the Versazca River, Ticino, Switzerland
The scene of James Bond’s fall in the movie GoldenEye was filmed on this dam. Here they take off from the concrete wall of the dam 220 meters high. The ride and jump can be booked with specialists.
Macau Tower, Cathay
From a 233-meter-tall tower in the heart of China’s gambling capital, you can take a dangerous long bungee jump right into the thick of the city. In order for the rope to fall straight while descending from a giant skyscraper, and not swing like a pendulum, its design had to be improved.
Extremo Park, Monteverde, Costa Rica
The highest bungee jump in Latin America can be done from a site located 143 meters above the tropical rainforest. The bungee ride is located in a natural park, so after landing, tourists have the opportunity to walk through the jungle.
Base jumping
Base jumping is an extreme sport that uses a special parachute to jump from cliffs, mountains, and high-rise buildings. The lower the object, the more dangerous the landing.
Angel Falls, Venezuela
The highest (979 meters) waterfall in the world and one of the most favorite sites for base jumpers. The flight is accompanied by the roar of a powerful stream of water falling down steep rocks and disappearing into tropical thickets. Bage jumping is legal here and special tours are regularly organized to the waterfall.
Skyscraper “Mercury”, Moscow, Russia
One of the skyscrapers in Moscow City, the golden Mercury Tower —
a popular place for jumping among Russian base jumpers. Recently built, this building, approximately 350 meters high, has lured extreme sports enthusiasts from the Ostankino Tower. Permission from the building administration is required to jump.
Navaio Bay, Zakynthos, Greece
One of the most beautiful beaches in Greece and the most popular base jumping destination in Europe. People jump here from a cliff 200 meters high. The free fall lasts from two to five seconds, and then lands in soft sand. BASE jumper rallies are regularly held here.
Burj Khalifa skyscraper, Dubai, UAE
The tallest building in the world is also the most desirable for fans of extreme jumps, but in order to take flight from here, you need special permission. Those who manage to get it will be able to fly for almost a minute and a half. Even if you can’t jump, climb to the top of the building for stunning views from 828 meters high.
Skydiving
Skydiving (literally diving into the sky) is a type of parachuting where the free fall is prolonged due to the fact that the parachute is opened as close to the ground as possible.
Dubai, UAE
Skydive Dubai — one of the most popular parachute clubs in the world. This official organization, opened with the permission of the Sheikh, whose son is a fan of skydiving, attracts tourists from all over the world to jump in a beautiful environment overlooking the famous man-made island of Palm Jumeirah.
Kamchatka, Russia
Tours are organized to the Kamchatka Peninsula, where they provide the opportunity to parachute over active volcanoes. They say that during the jump you can feel the heat from the steam coming out of the crater. After the flight, it is recommended to take a swim in the hot springs to calm your nerves. To fly you need to purchase a license.
Lake Bled, Slovenia
The quiet, beautiful lake surrounding the island of Bled in Slovenia is one of the most sought-after skydiving spots in all of Europe due to its scenic views and easy accessibility.
