Restaurant of the future: robots as waiters

Restaurant of the future: robots as waiters

If you dream of a time when people will populate Mars, cars will fly through the air and humanity will finally master teleportation, at least from home to work and back, then I advise you to start with the Japanese restaurant Hajime Robot Restaurant – the future it’s already here. Instead of waiters there are robots, instead of menus there are tablets, and instead of a table there is one large hob.

Where is the restaurant

Address: 3/F, Monopoly Park, 59/27 Rama 3 Rd, Bangkok, Thailand.
Operating hours: from 11:30 to 22:00. Last order at 21:00.
Website: hajimerobot.com
Phone: 0-2683-1670

The place is remote from the main tourist trails. There are almost no tourists here and only locals eat here. I learned about this restaurant absolutely by accident from my Thai friend.

It is not immediately noticeable from the street; keep your focus on the Porsche car dealership, the establishment itself is located on the 3rd floor. Entrance to the restaurant is free, although on some forums you can read that supposedly 200 baht is not true.

Food

There are only two options: 1) cook soup (349 baht per person, approximately 570 rubles) and have unlimited access to the buffet, or 2) cook a barbecue (529 baht per person, approximately 880 rubles) + also Buffet. By the way, ingredients for soup can be ordered an unlimited number of times.

You can place your order yourself on your tablet or ask the waiter to help you place your order (yes, there are also human waiters working here). By the way, they are responsive, speak excellent English, and I would recommend asking them for a recipe for preparing a particular Japanese dish. The waiter will bring you either broth for the soup or everything for the barbecue.

After clicking on the tablet «make an order» something will begin that will make you turn on the camera on your mobile phone, and the children, if there are any in the restaurant, squeal with delight. The chefs place the ingredients of the dish on a tray for the robot, and it immediately heads towards you with your order.

The feeling is very cool! At this moment, the child in every adult wakes up or simply remembers films about the future. The robot places the order, makes a couple of intricate hand gestures and leaves to go about its business.

Cooking a dish (by yourself)

1. Place the broth on the hob (in the case of a barbecue, the hole can be opened right there in the table).
2. Add the ingredients to the broth.
3. Wait 10 minutes, depending on the chosen recipe. That’s it, your dish is ready.

The food is delicious! Don’t forget that you can order many ingredients, they are already included in the price for the selected menu type. And don’t forget about the buffet, it’s included too.

The buffet, although not as big as at lunch in an Antalya hotel, is quite tasty.

There are 2 robots working in the cafe, each serving 12 tables. Robots ride along a special path behind glass to avoid accidents (who wouldn’t want to take a selfie with them!).

To my question: “Don’t they confuse orders and don’t they ask visitors for their jacket and bike,” the waiter answered with a smile that these are very smart machines and during the entire work there was not a single mistake. The cost of one such robot is $500,000.

In their free time they dance to Lady Gaga songs and Gangnam style.

In general, the restaurant makes a good impression: new, clean, very neat and high-tech.
