Furnished by Czech-born and British-born minimalist architect Eva Jiříčna, the four-star Hotel Josef is located close to the old Jewish Quarter, one of Prague’s most visited and interesting areas. For many years, the famous writers’ festival has been held here every summer, and many of them are regular guests of the Hotel Josef.
Despite the fact that the hotel was opened more than ten years ago, in 2002 (renovated in 2009),
it remains to this day one of the most stylish and modern hotels in Prague. The minimalist theme begins in the spacious white lobby with a glass spiral staircase and is carried into the small, functional bedrooms. They are decorated in neutral colors, with a lot of glass and therefore seem spacious and very bright. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay: fast wi-fi, silent air conditioning, telephone, plasma TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, safe and excellent view of Prague Castle and the Old Town. Superior rooms also have a Nespresso coffee machine with free coffee capsules. And pay attention to the designer glass shower – these are installed in each of the hotel’s 109 rooms.
On the last, eighth, floor of the hotel there is a gym, although it is very tiny. However, sports fans will probably like the idea of a morning jog through the Old Town more than it would be a great way to finally see the Charles Bridge without the flow of tourists. Well, then go for breakfast.
Breakfast is the hallmark of Hotel Josef. And they are so good here that not only hotel guests, but also local residents come for their morning meal. The menu includes fresh bread sourced from local bakeries, several types of cereal, and eggs for every taste, from the popular Eggs Benedict to omelettes with your choice of toppings. In addition, there are warm vegetables, salmon, fresh cheese and many wonderful small cakes – isn’t this the perfect start to the day? In the summer, by the way, you can have a snack on the open veranda.
Well, in the evening, after exploring all the streets of the Czech capital, go relax in the Josef bar. Recently renovated, it is decorated in the same minimalist style, which looks great in the evening. Here you can drink one of the signature cocktails or order something more familiar. In any case, why go somewhere if there are excellent conditions right in the hotel?
