We also recommend climbing the trails of the mountain ridge of the Dzheyrakh Gorge in Erzi. On one side there is pristine nature and the opportunity to “get lost” in time, on the other, at the foot, there is a view of the mosque located in the rural settlement of Olgetti.
There are very few people in the mountains. But in the distance you can often see cows, sheep and goats grazing. And don’t be surprised if a horse suddenly comes out towards you from behind the slope. He doesn’t show any interest in random passers-by, but he will definitely add color to photographs.
Ingush defense watchtower complexes
Without mentioning the ancient tower complexes, scattered in large numbers throughout Ingushetia, it is impossible to talk about the local mountains. Each of them is generic and belongs to a specific teip (union by kinship), whose representatives have been caring for the towers for centuries.
The most famous complex – Vovnushki – is located in the Guloikhiysky gorge and consists of two four-tiered castles, once connected by a suspension bridge. A symbol of mountainous Ingushetia, in 2008 it became a finalist in the “Seven Wonders of Russia” competition as one of the most amazing man-made attractions in the country.
No less colorful and Erzi complex. We recommend leaving your car at the foot of the mountain and walking up to the towers. New views open up at every step: you can see snow-capped peaks and, in cloudless weather, the famous mountain Sleeping Beauty.
Egikal Battle Towers – a real open-air museum. The architectural ensemble was built approximately in the XI century on top of Mount Tsey-Loam. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Assa River and the neighboring tower complexes. A large number of legends are associated with this place, so there is a special mood and energy here.
Waterfalls Ingushetia
Largest in the republic – Lyazhginsky waterfall – located in the Dzheyrakh gorge, two kilometers from the village of Armkhi and reaches a height of 20 m. Getting to it – a separate quest. You need to go up the eco-trail, 1300 meters long. In difficult places, the road is equipped with special railings – they make the climb safe. Along the way you will see huge boulders, many plants, and far below, parallel to the path, a rushing river. If you climb to the very top, you will notice barbed wire. The border with Georgia begins at this place, so it’s better to finish your ascent here.
Another waterfall – Furtougsky — flows down from Table Mountain at the very beginning of the Dzheirakh Gorge. With a height of 12 meters, it is the second largest in Ingushetia. By the way, this waterfall was named after Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev – the scientist visited it in the summer of 1880 at the head of a geological expedition.
The water here is so clean that you can drink it without harm to your health. And also admire the beauty of the gorge, steep rocks covered with moss and walk through the walnut orchard.
Pines
In mountain village of Armkhithe air is useful not only because of its purity, but also because of the abundantly growing coniferous trees. Many tourists travel to the republic solely to look at the local pine trees.
The pollen of these trees is truly exotic. It is used for the prevention and treatment of a large number of diseases of the respiratory system. In Soviet times, cosmonauts, factory workers and miners came here to recover their health after a flight. These days the resort is especially popular among allergy sufferers.

Ingush shepherds share such recipes and claim that their health is excellent. People here are generally willing to share – not only stories, but also, for example, treats. You can easily receive milk, cheese, berries for your child or delicious homemade cakes as a gift. And also – invitation to tea. You are a guest of the republic! And they treat guests here with the utmost respect. It is very important that they are satisfied and take the most favorable impressions of the trip back to their hometowns. By the way, do not try to pay for gifts – this can seriously offend the local residents. It is here, in the mountains, that traditions are honored especially zealously. The main issues are still decided by the council of elders. And every Friday is definitely a national cuisine day.
