The island of Java is most often visited by those who like to climb higher on the mountain – a series of treks to picturesque volcanoes makes up an excellent vacation program. We’ve already put together a packed itinerary with plenty of hiking, and today we’d like to add four more impressive places worth visiting in Java.
Green Canyon,
West Java
The name “Green Canyon” was given to this place in 1993 by tourists from France who were struck by the emerald color of the water. A river several meters wide flows through a gorge between two rocks covered with dense forest, and diffused light reaches the water, coloring it the color of the trees. The best way to enjoy the beauty of this place is to take a ride on a small wooden boat; the light ripples of its wake add a little more fabulousness to the place, reflecting on the walls of the gorge like sunbeams and causing the large lizards sleeping on the shore to lazily dive into the water.
How to get there: Green Canyon is located about half an hour from the village of Batucaras, next to which there is a local airport, and from there you can take a taxi.
Wonosari tea plantations,
East Java
The mountainous terrain of West Java turned out to be an excellent place for tea plantations. The gentle slopes of the Arjuno volcano are flooded with sun 365 days a year, and the air there is cool and fresh. The endless green fields of tea bushes are planted with neat rows of trees, creating light shade so that the taste of the tea is as rich as possible. Here you can admire the panoramic view from a special terrace or stroll right through the plantation and get up close and personal with the smiling tea pickers.
How to get there: tea plantations are located 30 km north of the city of Malang, you can stay overnight here, there are hotels and bungalows on site.
Banyu Tibo Beach, East Java
Translated from Javanese, this place is called “Falling Water”. This is because right on the beach there is a real waterfall with the purest fresh water from the mountains. Most of the coast here is rocky, but on Banyu Thibo the rocks parted and gave a small piece of land to snow-white sand. After splashing in the blue waves, you can cool off under the fresh streams of a wide waterfall, sunbathe in solitude, and in the evening move to a rock and fish in the company of local guys who come here with fishing rods at sunset.
How to get there:Banyu Tobo Beach can be reached either from Surabaya or from the city of Solo, which belongs to Central Java. You can take a scooter directly to the ocean, but you will have to park your car in Widoro village and walk 2 km.
Kedung Tumpang Beach,
East Java
If you love SPA treatments, then you will definitely like warm, relaxing baths with sea water, which nature itself carefully created. Kedung Tumpang can only be called a beach conditionally, there is no sand there, and the ocean washes over the rocks with waves, filling the natural depressions. The water in these natural rock pools is heated by the sun to the perfect temperature for relaxation, not to mention the spectacular photos you can take from perching higher up on the rock. You have to be careful in this area because the rocks are quite slippery, but the view is worth the slight risk of getting hurt.
How to get there: The nearest town to the beach is the city of Blitar,
near it you need to turn off the main road and continue along a partially broken road, however, driving a car along it is not scary, it’s just slow, so allow more time for the road.
