The first seven-star hotel in the region opened in the center of Tbilisi. The Biltmore Hotel Tbilisi, shaped like a rock, has 34 floors (there are 214 rooms) – the construction of the hotel, which lasted 4 years, cost an investment company from the United Arab Emirates $140 million. The head of this company, an Arab sheikh and concurrently the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Youth and Community Development of the UAE opened the hotel together with the Prime Minister of Georgia. On such a solemn occasion, a concert, fireworks and laser show were held. However, mapping shows (light projections on the facade of the building) are now held here regularly, which makes the hotel an even more noticeable landmark in the city center.
The Biltmore Hotel Tbilisi is located on Rustaveli Avenue, just 300 meters from the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater and a kilometer from Freedom Square. The hotel complex included the building of the former Institute of Marxism-Leninism, built according to the design of the outstanding Russian and Soviet architect Alexei Shchusev in the 1930s. There is an amphitheater, conference rooms, meeting rooms, and a restaurant here. The Shchusevskaya building and the new building are connected by a glass bridge. Despite the fact that the construction of the hotel was financed by Arab companies, the interior as a whole can be described as “luxurious, but restrained in a Caucasian way.” The hotel features a sun terrace, indoor pool, sauna, spa and fitness center, and free private parking. The front desk is open 24 hours a day and car rentals are available. There is an on-site bar and restaurant serving a variety of international cuisines.
All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. Some rooms have a seating area where you can enjoy a cup of tea while enjoying river or city views. Each room has a private bathroom with a bath and bidet. However, judging by the reviews, not all of the declared services are now working in full – the hotel administration explains the problems with the features of the initial period and promises to soon increase the level of the hotel’s work to the nominal seven stars. In addition, a casino is planned to open here.
