In the “Cudablin” project, we send completely different people on trips at our expense! Julia Leanca visited Bergen: she saw the famous Norwegian fjords, postcard houses in the bay and for the first time in her life saw snowdrops bloom. More details in her report!
Miracles definitely happen to those who believe in them!
On the plane, approaching Bergen, I was ready to dance in my seat 🙂
I got from the airport to the city very easily and in 20 minutes, by bus, having immediately bought a round-trip ticket.
The hotel was chosen near the station, which was a little alarming at first (sleeping with the sound of wheels). But how wrong I was.
The first introductory walk after checking into the hotel showed how deserted this city is. There was no one at the station either at 9 am or at 7 pm. I didn’t even see the train.
The first thing I did was go to them, these postcard houses in the Bryggen area.
Well, the second, of course, was to go to the fish market, to find out about an unusual task from OneTwoTrip – to try a crumbly pretzel with jellyfish.
The sellers at the market looked at me strangely… pretzel? with jellyfish? first time I heard…we don’t even have jellyfish…
One of the sellers promised me to find out everything from his friends and report the situation the next day.
By the way, the hotel guidebooks don’t say a word about pretzel. Near the hotel I met Russian-speaking guys from Germany; their guidebook had the same situation – it’s not here. Oooooo…
Just in case, on the way to the hotel I photographed two birds with one stone – this was one of the tasks.
On Saturday I popped into the tourist center to buy tickets to the fjords, and took the funicular up Mount Floyen, which offers fantastic views of the city and water.
And at the same time I went up on foot to drink coffee in order to grab the third task from the list – have a picnic in the mountains 🙂
Afterwards I met with the seller at the fish market. The tour guide he knows doesn’t know about the pretzel, no one does! Only Russian sites know about them, but they don’t show photos and don’t say where exactly you should try it.
The cost of a ticket for a three-hour cruise to the fjords is about 65 euros. I think the price is quite reasonable for such a trip.
In general, Norway is really not the cheapest country, but relative to Moscow, everything is not as terrible as it seems.
Although honestly, I have never paid 75 euros for dinner for one person. And I can’t say that I overate myself – a glass of wine, 2 scallops, and two types of fish for main course.
I dedicated Sunday to just a walk around the city. Bergen is famous for its street art, and I enjoyed it to the fullest.
And only at the end of the world I saw snowdrops blooming.
In general, I was incredibly lucky with the weather: they say that in Bergen it rains more often than the sun shines.
And definitely, this is a must-see city, whatever the weather.
