Adventures of a Kudablin participant in Altai

Hello! I’m Lena Fenzik (@nastenkino_menu). This summer I managed to fulfill my old dream. Thanks to the Kudablin project, I visited Altai.

How to get to Altai

The most convenient option is a plane to Gorno-Altaisk. You can fly from Moscow in 4 hours. Ticket prices start from 10,000 rubles* per person round trip.

Immediately upon arrival, I rented a car and set off to conquer unknown lands. I really wanted to see more, but the distances are not close.

Where to stay in Altai

In general, while traveling you can find accommodation for as little as 500 rubles* per night. There are hotels of different price categories in the region.

Island of Patmos

It all started on the small island of Patmos. It is a rock with steep walls on the Katun River. The only way to get there is via a suspension bridge. It’s incredibly beautiful here.

On the first day there was little time left, so I checked into a capsule hotel to gain strength before the morning departure along the Chuysky tract.

Chike-Taman Pass

Another stop on the journey was the Chike-Taman pass. The name translates as “Flat (straight) sole.” This place is a natural monument of republican significance, classified as a specially protected site.  ⠀

At the top there is an observation deck with a view of the rocks of the Terektinsky Range. The views are mesmerizing. You can also drink coffee and buy souvenirs here. The mountains have been mastered. All amenities are present, which, you see, is also important.

Chui-Oozy

The next point was the famous confluence of the Chuya and Katun rivers, which is located at 714 km of the Chuya tract. The place itself is called Chui-Oozy, which is translated as the mouth of the Chuya. This is, in fact, a sacred place for the locals. The thing is that the waters of the Katun River are crystal clear, but the color of the Chuya River is muddy white, and it is at this mouth that the Katun River turns into the whitish waters of the Chuya. Such complete acceptance and merging with the elements. The spectacle is, of course, mesmerizing. While here, you catch yourself thinking that you don’t want to leave anywhere. Just sit and admire this mesmerizing beauty.

Geyser Lake

The next miracle of nature that I was able to see with my own eyes was Geyser Lake, located 6 km from the village of Aktash at the foot of the North Chuysky Ridge. It is also called Blue or Silver because of the bizarre patterns that appear on the water due to the springs gushing below. You can’t swim there, and the depth is only two meters. The reservoir does not freeze all year round, even at temperatures below zero degrees because of the clay it is not even covered with frost. Watching this wonder of the world is a real pleasure. The lake became a place of power for me. I was greatly charged by this magic of nature.

Impressions of the trip to Altai

It seems to me that I have never had such a vacation in my life: semi-wild mountain horses, wild mountain flowers, the amazing color of the sky against the backdrop of majestic mountains… If you want to relax your soul and body, do a complete reboot and leave in your the heart has the warmest memories – it’s better than Altai and it’s difficult to come up with something.

And also, according to the conditions of the trip, I completed a task that was voted for by my subscribers. I had to come to the Stone Museum and persuade the employees to accept my stone into the collection.

And what do you think? I did it! Despite the fact that I arrived only an hour before closing. I put the pebble on the shelf and, satisfied with the completed task, went to the airport to go home!
