In the “Cudablin” project, we send completely different people on trips at our expense! Irina Rasskazova visited Cancun, Mexico: she found turtles and swam among them in the sea, explored underground lakes in the jungle and the places where the Mayan Indians live. More details in her report!
The morning begins not with coffee, but with an early flight to Mexico and questioning whether I have a visa. And after checking in, the morning begins with the sea breeze, guacamole, which is sold on the beach instead of hot corn or churchkhela (as in Sochi) and, of course, with Spanish music.
Parties by the pool do not take place in the evening, because beach clubs close at 6-7pm, and after that – be sure to take an evening dress with you – couples go out to pretentious dinners, and the fun ends at crazy discos at the Coco club Bongo.
Visiting Mexico means trying their famous fajitas as a main course, guacamole as an appetizer, and margaritas, frozen or not, with or without flavors.
This is about a lazy beach holiday.
Active recreation begins outside of Cancun, in a village called Akumal. In the open ocean, you are offered not just to swim with turtles, like in a zoo, but to find them. Swim among them, but not interfere with their normal life.
Why just lie on the beach when you can explore underground lakes in the jungle, where the Mayan tribes still live, where it is impossible to swim without flashlights and where every exit and passage is similar to the previous one. When stalactites hang above you, and stalagmites below you, and the water is no more than 23 degrees, you understand where that thrill is.
Acquaintance with Mexico, of course, should begin with places like these (they say Tulum is a must visit),
because Cancun for Americans (and I live in America) is like Turkey for Russians. That’s what they say about him: oh why are you going there? there’re too many tourists. But it’s very cheap and tasty, and not too hot – this is the ideal climate.
My advice, you should choose a hotel in Cancun only near the sea, and preferably with 4-5 stars. And finally: don’t believe that they don’t speak English there… although I would learn a little Spanish words so that I know what they say after me – a lot of Mexicans will pay attention to you!
