Route:

Days 1–2. Salzburg

For starters, we suggest to take a day for a walk around Salzburg. It spreads out on both sides  the Salzach River, and here you will find cozy pedestrian streets, cafes with aromatic Austrian coffee and delightful mountain scenery.

Salzburg’s old town is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Throughout its territory there are numerous historical attractions: the house where Mozart was born, the residence of the archbishop, cathedrals, churches and many other cultural sites. 

The Hohensalzburg Fortress rises above the Old Town on Mount Festungberg, offering magnificent views of the city and surrounding area. You can get to it by cable car or on foot. Ticket price: from 12.90 EUR.

On the opposite side of the Old Town is the New Town. Here stands the Mirabell Palace with its gardens (free admission).

Day 2. Transfer from Salzburg to Vienna

To get to Vienna, you can rent a car or take a train. We recommend leaving in the morning.

By car, take the A1 highway. You will get there in about 3 hours.

By train, the travel time will be about 2.5 hours, and the ticket will cost from 19 to 35 EUR.

Days 2–6. Vienna

The capital of Austria is a city of historical quarters, palaces with public gardens, Mozart and the waltz. We suggest you spend 5 days here.

Inner City

Vienna’s inner city is a historical district with cozy pedestrian streets with authentic cafes, ancient cathedrals and churches, majestic monuments and palaces.

In the center of the area stands the famous St. Stephen’s Cathedral. This Gothic cathedral is the symbol of the city. Its south and north towers offer magnificent views of Vienna and the multi-colored roof of the cathedral. Ticket price: from 5 EUR.

Not far from the cathedral there is a lovely Anker clock, which shows a performance every day at noon. Nearby is the Mozart House, as well as ancient churches, the Hofburg imperial palace with parks and numerous other cultural treasures of Vienna.

Vienna Opera

The Vienna Opera is one of the most prestigious operas in the world. The Vienna Ball is held here once a year, in which celebrities and public figures from all over the world participate. You can look at its unique interior as part of a tour or by spending the evening at one of the events: different performances take place on the opera stage every day. There are more than 60 of them in the repertoire of the Vienna Opera: operas, ballets and classical music concerts.

Vienna Ring Tram

The yellow tram runs along the Ringstrasse boulevard, and a trip on it is a great opportunity to explore the important sights of the city: the Vienna State Opera, the Parliament, the Vienna Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Hofburg, the Town Hall, the Burgtheater, the University of Vienna and others. During the 25-minute ride, you can listen to the audio guide, which is available in different languages.

Albertina Gallery

More than 1 million unique paintings, 60 thousand drawings and valuable photographs are collected in the halls of the Albertina. The gallery hosts exhibitions of works of art by world and outstanding artists: Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Paul Cezanne and others.

Situated on the border with the Old Town, the MuseumsQuartier is Vienna’s cultural hub with museums, art spaces and cafes. The Jean Arnold Gallery, the Leopold Museum, the children’s museum of ZOOM master classes are located here, and the famous mumok opens its doors to lovers of contemporary art. In between lies an art square with lounge benches, kiosks and themed shops.

Prather Park

Schönbrunn Park

The park includes the palace of the same name during the reign of the Habsburgs, gardens and one of the most famous zoos in Europe. Day 6. Transfer from Vienna to Ljubljana

On the sixth day of the trip, head to Ljubljana early in the morning. Take the Süd Autobahn/E59 and A1/E57 by car. Travel time will be approximately 4 hours.

Days 6–7. Ljubljana

Ljubljana is a cozy and quiet capital of Slovenia. We invite you to spend one day and one night here to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

First, head to Ljubljana Castle, which offers stunning views of the entire city. You can get to the territory on foot, by public transport or by funicular (departs from the station Krekov trg, Zmajski most). The ticket will cost 13 EUR (entrance to the castle and a round-trip ticket for the funicular).

After exploring the city from a hill, go down to its center – to the Ljubljanica River embankment, the Dragon Bridge and the Triple Bridge. Here you will find an atmosphere of magic, quiet streets and fragrant cafes.

To enjoy nature, head to Tivoli City Park. It occupies a vast territory with alleys, sculptures and a picturesque lake.

Day 7. Transfer from Ljubljana to Bled. Walk around the city

On the morning of the seventh day, go to the small city of Slovenia – Bled. Getting there via the A2/E61 highway will take about 45 minutes.

Here you will have a whole day to explore the city.

Sights of Bled

The main attraction of the city is its lake of the same name, surrounded by foothills and forests. There is a path along the shore connecting the city center and the castle. The castle grounds offer stunning views of the lake, the city and the surrounding area. Ticket price is 11 EUR.

Be sure to go on a boat trip on the lake with The Pletna boat. A traditional wooden boat will take you around the lake and take you to a picturesque island where the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with a wishing bell stands. A boat ticket will cost 15 EUR.

Day 7. Transfer to Tolmedzo

In the evening of the same day, go to the Italian city of Tolmezzo. The journey to it will take about 1 hour 40 minutes. Take highway A23.

Sights of Tolmedzo

A small town is located in the mountains of Italy. It’s worth coming here to walk along the ancient deserted streets and enjoy the views of nature.

Don’t pass by the Picotta Tower (Torre Picotta). It offers magnificent panoramic views of the city, valley and mountains.

Spend the first half of the eighth day of your trip in Tolmezzo, and then head towards the city of Cortina d’Ampezzo. The journey to it will take about 2 hours.

Days 8–10. Dolomites: Cortina d’Ampezzo and Bolzano

On your arrival day, take a stroll through the town of Cortina d’Ampezzo itself and admire the surrounding mountains. Taste the local gastronomy at one of the restaurants for a relaxing evening.

On the morning of the ninth day, drive towards Bolzano. Along the way, stop by Lake Braies. The journey to the lake will take a little over an hour.

Brayes is an incredibly beautiful lake, surrounded by picturesque mountains. Allow at least a few hours for a walk here. You can walk around the lake in about 2 hours.

Afterwards, move to the city of Bolzano. Travel time will be about 1 hour 40 minutes.

In Bolzano it is worth taking a walk around the city center – see the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, walk along the ancient street Portici (Via dei Portici), ride the Renon cable car (open until late evening, station address: Via Renon 12).

Day 10. Transfer to Kitzbühel

On the tenth day, head to Kitzbühel along the E45 and A12 highways. Travel time will be about 2 hours 45 minutes.

Kitzbühel is a beautiful resort town in the mountains of Austria. In winter, the main entertainment here is skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports. In summer, you can go trekking or ride bicycles in the mountains.

Start your acquaintance with the city with a walk through the picturesque center, where traditional Alpine houses and shops are located, which attract with their aromas and colorful shop windows. Be sure to try hot mulled wine and traditional Tyrolean dishes.

Day 12. Moving to Hallstatt

After enjoying the atmosphere of Kitzbühel, on the twelfth day, in the late afternoon, go to Hallstatt. Drive along the E641 highway. The journey will take about 2.5 hours.

Hallstatt is a small and cozy village on the shores of Lake Hallstätter. Cars are prohibited inside the city, so you will have to leave your car in one of the parking lots at the entrance to the village. In parking lots No. 1 and No. 2 you can leave your car for a long time.

Take a whole day to enjoy the old town, the scenery and the tranquility of nature. Be sure to take a walk along the path along the lake – from here you will enjoy magnificent panoramas.

Day 14. Transfer to Salzburg airport. Homecoming

On the final day of your trip, head to Salzburg Airport. The road to it from Hallstatt will take about 1.5 hours.
